Arkitip Collaboration. Today I sent out the last two figures I created for Arkitip’s new project called Project Space. Project Space is a new gallery team-up between Arkitip and Incase for exhibitions and will also carry a limited range of curated products. Project Space is set to open next week on April 1st. I’m really stoked to be apart of Project Space’s first curated collection. I painted 5 new Big Guys for them and each one has a unique colorway. The new BG2 stands 12″ tall by 4″ wide.
Small Favors is the next group show at Giant Robot New York that will be showing only small works. All the invite said was to keep the art small, 5″x5″ inches. I made three pieces for the show and a small shelf for them to be displayed on. The pieces from left to right are Pencil Pirate, Perfect Together (Double Cheese Burger and Fries) and Break Out. The show opens Saturday March 27th at 6:30 till 10 and runs until April 14th.
Color Fields and Line Drawings. For the Game Over show I thought it would be awesome to do a series of color fields based off of some of my favorite Atari 2600 games. I really like how the color field series has two layers. One, if you know the game you can see it and imagine playing it. Or two, that you can look at it as purely a color study. For the second series of work I did three drawings about different Nintendo consoles. The NES, the Gameboy and the Virtual Boy.
Sneak Peek. I’m really excited about my piece ‘Virtual Perspective’ for the GR-SF show Game Over 3. I’ve been working on a series of 3D drawings for awhile now and when I got asked to join the Game Over show I thought it would be perfect to draw one for Nintendo’s Virtual Boy. Below is a link to the 3D image that you can try and see. This is one of those things that you will need to try different things to see it. Basically you need to try and stare past the drawing so that you create a third image in the middle of the two (You might want to try going slightly crossed too). You can try to bring your face close to your screen and slowly back out until something comes into sight too. I really hope you can see it.
Group Show. I’m really stoked to be in the next group show at GRSF which is all about video games! Video games have been apart of my life since I first played Pitfall on an Atari 2600 in 1982 at my friend’s house. Then after getting my own NES in 1985 I’ve been a loyal Nintendo fan since. The show opens March 12th and the reception is from 6:30 to 10.
