Super Square. I’m really excited about the new print I designed for my first Furoshiki. Furoshiki is the Japanese traditional way of wrapping an object in a square piece of fabric to carry something. It’s really cool how many different ways there are to bundle something up. Furoshiki is amazing in the same way origami is, that all the different uses all start from a square and nothing is held together by anything other than the folds or in fabrics case, folds and knots.
Pickled. The best pickled thing from my last trip to Japan was the Akakabu I had in Shirakawago. It was so great. It’s taken me a bit to get used to the pickled veggies you get served with meals but now I like them. It was cool getting to see this big crop of Akakabu being prepped to be pickled by a store in town.
More GOOD. Here’s one of the pieces I did for GOOD’s Spring issue on Los Angeles.
Spring Issue. Check out the latest Spring
issue of GOOD magazine and look for the
four illustrations I did for them.
Launch Party. A few months ago I was asked by Manual to take part in a new limited edition semi annual publication they are starting called Loose Leaf. Loose Leaf is a large format unbound edition of printed art works that is designed to be hung on your wall and not stored away. It comes with a unique pegged hanging system so you can change out and rotate the art you’d like to view. The first edition features works from artists working in the San Francisco Bay Area.
