Play time. A series I’ve loosely started to shoot is playgrounds in Japan. They get the coolest looking slide combo play sets. This one is pretty simple but I’ve seen giant octopus and crazy dome looking things. I unfortunately didn’t have my camera on me at the times I stumbled upon them. I took this picture in Odaiba. I really like the random composition the tv dishes make on the balconies.
Taxis Trains and Buses. All three of my favorite forms of transportation in Japan in one shot. I love seeing all the buses and taxis lined up. All the different colors are really interesting I think. They end up forming a nice composition to me. A little purple and bright green on the left, a bit of yellow on the right and some red on top. I love it when things work out like this. The image becomes on it’s simplest level to me about composition through color and not about the objects in the image. This is taken from an overpass walkway near the Shibuya train station.
Desktop Still Life. This is a little setup I’ve had on my desk the past month while I’ve been away from my studio freelancing on a project that required me to be on site. On the left is the Pencil Pirate’s head made from scrap wood, there’s also a new Kokeshi as well as a painted wood cutout of ‘A Flat Perspective’. Then there’s some other goodness from the Japanese market that is close by.
