10 years of drawing pencils.

10 years ago—today—on April 30th I posted the first Pen Pencil Stencil site. Earlier that year I decided to stop working on client work and solely pursue personal projects for one year. Pen Pencil Stencil was created as my place to share the personal projects I was working on and making. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the people who have supported me over the years and have made this creative journey so fun and rewarding.

Ten years ago I decided to take a year off of working to pursue personal work. I bought my URL, Pen Pencil Stencil, in February of 2008 and quickly started learning how to program my first WordPress blog. Shortly after I posted the first version of my site on April 30th. To celebrate 10 years of Pen Pencil Stencil and the first blog post—I’ll be releasing a few things on April 30th and more through out the year. A huge thank you to everyone who’s followed me over the years and for all of the support in making this experiment so fun. Checkout this little animation I posted on Instagram.

I can’t believe it’s already 2018! This May marks the ten year anniversary of me starting Pen Pencil Stencil. Time has flown by! Walking anywhere in Japan is my favorite thing to do while I’m visiting. There’s so much awesomeness to discover on foot that you’ll never find or see in a car, bus or train. Discovering little hidden treasures like this backstreet kissaten are magic. I love those coffee signs!
