Ten years ago I decided to take a year off of working to pursue personal work. I bought my URL, Pen Pencil Stencil, in February of 2008 and quickly started learning how to program my first WordPress blog. Shortly after I posted the first version of my site on April 30th. To celebrate 10 years of Pen Pencil Stencil and the first blog post—I’ll be releasing a few things on April 30th and more through out the year. A huge thank you to everyone who’s followed me over the years and for all of the support in making this experiment so fun. Checkout this little animation I posted on Instagram.

I can’t believe it’s already 2018! This May marks the ten year anniversary of me starting Pen Pencil Stencil. Time has flown by! Over the last year I’ve been slowly working on a fun project that I hope to release sometime later this year. I’ve been making a lot of progress on it lately—fingers crossed I’ll have it done soon. Here’s a peek at an illustration from it.

Starting back in August I began remodeling a room in my house and have finally almost finished it. The room is full of personal work ideas that I’ve had for the last few years that until now have lived on only in my sketch books or the back of my mind. It’s been really great getting to finally start some of them and bring them to life. Above is ‘Color Study #3’ which is from a larger body of color studies I’ve been working on that are about movement and color.

Over the last few months I’ve been working on making a couple large custom sets of my kokeshi for Herman Miller. They are going in their stories in Manhattan and Dallas. Super excited to have made these for them.
